Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 343 PM EDT Fri Oct 09 2015 Valid 00Z Sat Oct 10 2015 - 00Z Mon Oct 12 2015 ...Heavy rain possible across portions of the Carolinas on Saturday... ...Above average temperatures expected from the Intermountain West to the northern plains on Saturday... A cold front will move across the eastern U.S. this evening, bringing showers and thunderstorms from portions of New England to the Mid-Atlantic, Tennessee valley, and the Southeast. A weak wave of low pressure is forecast to develop along the front tonight across South Carolina, which may enhance shower and thunderstorm activity from eastern Georgia across the Carolinas tonight into Saturday. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches, with locally heavier amounts, are possible across this area, and some areas may see potential for some flooding. The area of low pressure will move offshore Saturday night, bringing an end to widespread showers and thunderstorms across the Carolinas. The Pacific Northwest will see wet conditions continue through Saturday. A weakening Pacific frontal system will continue streaming moisture into coastal Washington and Oregon tonight. Another frontal system will approach the Northwest Saturday afternoon and will move onshore Saturday evening -- thus expect rain to continue through the day on Saturday. Rain should begin to taper off Saturday night as the front moves into the northern Intermountain States, bringing a chance of showers along with it. Ahead of this front, dry conditions with well above average temperatures will be prevalent on Saturday from the northern Intermountain West to the northern plains, with afternoon high temperatures expected to be 10 to 20 degrees above average.
