Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 356 AM EDT Mon Oct 12 2015 Valid 12Z Mon Oct 12 2015 - 12Z Wed Oct 14 2015 ...High winds possible for portions of the Northern Plains to parts of the Upper Great Lakes... A front extending from the Upper Great Lakes roughly southward to the Southern Plains will move eastward to the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Coast to the Central/Western Gulf Coast by Tuesday evening. The system will have limited moisture to work with over the Upper Midwest producing rain over parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley by Monday morning. Moisture will intercept the boundary by Monday afternoon aiding in the development of showers and thunderstorms from parts of the Western Gulf Coast/Lower Mississippi Valley to parts of the Southern Ohio Valley by Monday evening. The showers and thunderstorms will move to the Carolina Coast to the Western Gulf Coast by Tuesday morning, waning to parts of the Central/Western Gulf Coast by Tuesday evening. In addition, rain will develop along and near the front over parts of the Ohio Valley/Lower Great Lakes by Monday evening that will move to the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Coast by Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, an upper-level low over the Southeast Coast will slowly weaken and move northeastward out over the Western Atlantic by early Tuesday morning. The energy will aid in producing rain along the Southern Mid-Atlantic Coast to the Southeast Coast on Monday morning that will begin to wane by Monday evening. Additionally over the Pacific Northwest, a plume of moisture will aid in producing rain over parts of the Northwest Coast through Tuesday morning.
