Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 433 PM EDT Mon Oct 12 2015 Valid 00Z Tue Oct 13 2015 - 00Z Thu Oct 15 2015 ***Quiet weather pattern overall*** ***Hot for the Southwest and southern Plains*** The majority of the nation will enjoy pleasant fall weather through mid-week as a large area of high pressure and subsiding air remains in place across the central and western U.S. A cold front moving across the eastern U.S. will only have a limited amount of moisture available, and thus scattered areas of light to moderate rain are possible with that boundary on Tuesday as it approaches the East Coast. This front will bring a small drop in temperatures for Wednesday and beyond. Besides that, most places should have sunny to partly cloudy skies. Hot weather is expected to continue for southern California and for the lower elevations of the Desert Southwest, with some areas exceeding 100 degrees. Very warm weather is also likely for the southern Plains through midweek with upper 80s to mid 90s expected for afternoon highs.
