Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 327 PM EDT Tue Oct 13 2015 Valid 00Z Wed Oct 14 2015 - 00Z Fri Oct 16 2015 ...Fall-like temperatures expected for eastern portions of the U.S... ...Showers and thunderstorms expected across the Southwest... A cold front stretching from eastern Canada into south Texas will continue to progress toward the East Coast. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will pop up along the boundary across the Southeast during Tuesday evening and may linger through Wednesday morning. However, as the cold front moves through northern and central Florida, limited moisture will be available and it will mostly be a dry frontal passage. The same cannot be said for south Florida, as showers and thunderstorms ahead of the cold front will begin to increase in coverage by Wednesday afternoon. By Thursday, the front will stall along south Florida and will act as a trigger for additional precipitation. The Great Lakes can also expect showers throughout the short term period. As the aforementioned cold front moves off the New England coast, this will bring upsloping winds across the Great Lakes. Light showers are expected on the eastern shores of Lakes Superior and Michigan Tuesday and early Wednesday. By Thursday, Lakes Erie, Ontario, and Huron will have more favorable conditions for precipitation. New England will also receive showers on Tuesday and into early Wednesday with this activity. As an upper level low slowly meanders toward the southern California coast by Wednesday night, showers and thunderstorms will begin to ramp up across the region in response. By Thursday, with plenty of instability and moisture available, convection will spread throughout southern California, including the Sierra Nevada mountain range, and most of Arizona.
