Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 152 AM EDT Sun Oct 25 2015 Valid 12Z Sun Oct 25 2015 - 12Z Tue Oct 27 2015 ...Heavy rains to shift eastward into the lower Mississippi Valley... After several days of record rainfall across much of central and eastern Texas...improving conditions will slowly spread eastward across the southern Plains as a low pressure system over the western Gulf of Mexico tracks northeastward toward the central gulf coast region Sunday. While the rains will slowly abate across Texas...much of the lower Mississippi Valley region will be the focus for some heavy rains and windy conditions into Monday as the low pressure system moves slowly along the central gulf coast. The low is expected to slowly weaken by Tuesday morning...but the continued influx of both gulf and western Atlantic moisture will allow rains to slowly spread northward into the Tennessee Valley and lower Oh Valley by Monday night. To the north of this area...cool high pressure is expected to build in behind a cold front which will sweep rapidly off the New England coast by late Sunday preceded by an area of showers. Generally fair but considerably cooler temperatures are expected to spread across the Great Lakes into New England Sunday into Monday. In the west...low pressure off the Pacific Northwest coast is expected to spread showers into the region on Sunday with a general weakening precipitation shield spreading eastward into the northern Intermountain region late Sunday and Monday. Additional showers are expected to develop to the north of a quasi-stationary frontal boundary over parts of the northern Plains/northern Rockies Sunday into Monday. Some cooler air is expected to filter southward into the northern Rockies and northern High Plains by Monday night as a cold front drops southward from western Canada in response to building upper ridge across extreme western Canada.
