Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 359 PM EST Tue Nov 10 2015 Valid 00Z Wed Nov 11 2015 - 00Z Fri Nov 13 2015 ...Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain possible for central portions of the US... ...Heavy snow possible across portions of the Cascades and a vast area spanning from the Great Basin to areas along and east of the Central Rockies... ...Temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees above average from parts of the Southern Plains into the Upper Mississippi Valley and the Upper Great Lakes... A low pressure system and associated cold front will continue to track east across off the East Coast and across the Atlantic Ocean over the next few days. Rain will persist for the New England region through Wednesday afternoon until the central pressure skirts further over the North Atlantic. A powerful system will move through the eastern two-thirds of the CONUS bringing widespread precipitation and potential adverse impacts. A front extending from the Northern Plains to the Desert Southwest will move eastward toward the Mississippi Valley/Western Gulf Coast by Wednesday. As the system moves onto the Southern/Central Plains, moisture from the Western Gulf of Mexico will advect northward over the Southern/Central Plains into parts of the Middle/Upper Mississippi Valley. The moisture will aid in developing showers and thunderstorms along and ahead of the advancing front. Th Storm Prediction Center has depicted portions of the Plains and Mississippi Valley with a slight to enhanced risk for sever thunderstorms to develop. Rain will also develop over parts of the Northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley into parts of the Upper Great Lakes on Wednesday. Additionally, an area of snow will develop over parts of the Central High Plains on Wednesday morning. A third system will move onshore over the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday morning moving into parts of the Northern High Plains by Wednesday evening. Rain will develop over the Pacific Northwest Coast and lower elevations inland from Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.
