Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 252 PM EST Sun Nov 22 2015 Valid 00Z Mon Nov 23 2015 - 00Z Wed Nov 25 2015 ...Coldest temperatures of the season so far to start off the work week for much of the eastern U.S. into Tuesday... ...Becoming much colder with snow for parts of the Northwest U.S. by Tuesday morning... In the wake of a strong cold front, the coldest temperatures of the season will impact locations from New York and southern New England down to parts of the eastern Gulf Coast. In fact, the freezing line Monday morning is forecast to surge south of Atlanta all the way to the central coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Temperatures will warm a few degrees for Tuesday, but still remain 5 to 10 degrees below average. Meanwhile, scattered lake effect snow showers are forecast to continue falling immediately southeast of the Great Lakes through Tuesday. While most of these accumulations should be light, locally heavy snow is expected in far western upstate New York where 6 to 10 inches could fall. Across the West, the beginnings of a colder and snowier pattern will begin to set up on Monday with the approach of a sharp upper level trough and cold front. As the upper trough moves down the West Coast Tuesday, it will intensify allowing much colder air to filter southward from Canada. Snow levels are forecast to come down rather low with accumulating snows expected for a good portion of the Northwest, even in some of the lower elevations.
