High pressure over the Lower Mississippi Valley/Southeast to the Northeast will become stronger over the eastern third of the country by Wednesday morning. An upper-level trough over the Great Lakes to the Northeast will move eastward off the Northeast Coast by Wednesday. Lake effect snow associated with the upper-level energy over parts of Northern New York State and Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan will come to an end by Tuesday. In addition, a cold front extending from the Central Plains to the Ohio Valley will lift northward as a warm front to parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley/Upper Great Lakes by Wednesday morning. An upper-level low will develop along the Pacific Northwest Coast by Tuesday morning and move southward to Central California by Wednesday morning. The associated front over the Pacific Northwest Coast will move southward to Southern California and eastward to the Great Basin by Wednesday. A wave of low pressure over the Northern High Plains will move eastward to the Northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley by Wednesday, forcing the aforementioned warm front to move northward. The developing upper-level low will produce rain along the Pacific Northwest Coast through Tuesday evening. The rain will begin to develop over parts of Northern California and expand southward to Southern California by Wednesday. Snow will develop over parts of the Northern Intermountain Region and the Cascades by Monday evening and expand into the Northern Rockies on Tuesday. Also on Tuesday, the snow will expand into the Sierras, then into parts of the Great Basin by Wednesday morning. Additionally, return flow off the Gulf of Mexico will start to moisten the atmosphere over parts of the Southern/Central Plains into the Middle Mississippi Valley producing scattered light rain over parts of the area by Wednesday morning.
