Cold high pressure over the Northern High Plains will move eastward to the Northern Plains while the nose of high pressure presses southward to the Southern Plains by Friday. A front along the leading edge of the cold air extends from the Upper Great Lakes to the Central High Plains will move slowly eastward to the Great Lakes to the Southern Plains by Friday. Moisture from the Western Gulf of Mexico will stream northward into the Upper Great Lakes pooling along the boundary. Rain will develop along and ahead of the front from parts of the Central Plains/Middle Mississippi Valley to the Upper Great Lakes on Wednesday evening that will move southeastward to the Great Lakes to parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley by Friday morning. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over the Southern Plains on Wednesday evening and expand southeastward to parts of the Western Gulf Coast on Thanksgiving and continuing to Friday morning. The moisture will overrun the boundary producing snow from parts of the Southern High Plains to the Upper Great Lakes on Thanksgiving morning into Friday. In addition, a region of freezing rain will develop from parts of the Southern High Plains into the Middle/Upper Mississippi Valley on Thanksgiving into Friday. Meanwhile, a deep upper-level low over the western third of the country will aid in producing snow over parts of the Great Basin and the Central Rockies through Friday.
