Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 232 AM EST Sat Jan 02 2016 Valid 12Z Sat Jan 02 2016 - 12Z Mon Jan 04 2016 ...Lake effect snow downwind of the Great Lakes... ...Temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees below average over southern Texas... High pressure dominates the weather across the lower forty-eight states through Sunday night. Around the edges several weather makers will impact the weather in separate regions of the country. A lingering front over southern Florida will aid in producing rain over the southern tip of Florida through Sunday. In addition, upper-level impulse will travel across the Gulf Coast producing rain over the Western Gulf Coast on Saturday morning that will expand along the Gulf Coast to the Eastern Gulf Coast by Sunday morning. The rain will wane to parts of the Southeast by Sunday evening. Meanwhile, upper-level energy moving over the Great Lakes will aid in producing lake effect snow downwind of the Great Lakes through Saturday. On Sunday a front moving southward from East-Central Canada into the Great Lakes and the Northeast will continue the lake effect/lake enhanced snow downwind of the Great Lakes through Sunday evening. Additionally, a weakening front over the Eastern Pacific will dissipate just before moving onshore over California on Sunday. Moisture associated with the system will move into the West Coast overnight Saturday producing rain over parts of Northern California and the Pacific Northwest on Sunday.
