Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 352 AM EST Mon Jan 25 2016 Valid 12Z Mon Jan 25 2016 - 12Z Wed Jan 27 2016 ...Snow for parts of the High Plains, Upper Mississippi Valley and Upper Great Lakes today through Tuesday... ...Heavy rain possible for Florida on Wednesday... A low pressure system will track northeast and spread snow from the Southern Plains through the Mississippi Valley into the Great Lakes region over the next couple of days. Numerous Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for this system. Accumulations of 1 to 4 inches will be common, with 6 to 10 inches possible for northern Michigan and Lake Superior. Additional upper-level energy over the Southwest will move eastward to parts of the Southern High Plains by Tuesday morning. The energy will produce snow over parts of the Central Rockies Monday afternoon into evening. The snow will move southeastward into the Southern High Plains by Tuesday morning. Rain will develop along and ahead of the advancing front for the Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley and parts of the Western Gulf Coast before spreading into the Lower Great Lakes region and Ohio Valley. Elsewhere, high pressure over the Mid-Atlantic to the Southeast will slowly move eastward off the East Coast by Tuesday morning.
