A front moving onshore over the Pacific Northwest and Northern California will move roughly eastward to the Central High Plains trailing westward to the Great Basin and Central California by Saturday evening. The system will stream moisture into Northern/Central California through early Saturday morning when the moisture axis will move southward to Southern California by Saturday evening. The storm will produce rain and higher elevation snow over the Pacific Northwest and into Northern California by Friday morning into Saturday evening. The precipitation will move inland on Friday as snow develop over parts of the Northern Rockies to the Great Basin and rain at lower elevations. By Friday evening the snow will expand into parts of the Northern High Plains and Central Rockies continuing into Saturday evening. In addition, after the boundary moves inland, snow levels will lower over interior portions of the Pacific Northwest and Northern/Central California as well as the Great Basin by Saturday. A second front over the Northern High Plains will move southeastward to parts of the Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley and the Upper Great Lakes by Saturday morning, while dissipating. The system will produce scattered rain over parts of the Northern/Central Plains on Friday. As the energy moves eastward, the rain will change over to snow over the Upper Great Lakes and parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley on Saturday morning moving into parts of Northern New England by Saturday evening. A third boundary over the Northern Appalachians to the Southern Appalachian will move eastward off the East Coast by Friday evening. The system will produce light snow over parts of the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley on Friday morning moving off the Northeast Coast by Saturday morning.
