Snow is expected for portions of the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, central and southern Appalachians and across parts of the northern Mid-Atlantic. Energy rotating around the upper low will aid in producing precipitation. Numerous Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings are in effect across this region. Accumulations of 1 to 6 inches will be common. The Great Lakes and areas just downwind will likely have 6 to 12+ inches. Rain will develop over parts of the Southern Mid-Atlantic Coast through Wednesday morning. Cold air will settle over much of the eastern states. Temperatures are forecast to be 10 to 20 degrees below average over the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley into parts of the Ohio Valley and the Southeast. Low pressure will slide southeastward from the Canadian Prairies into the Plains states. Snow is expected across the High Plains the Upper and Middle Mississippi Valley. Snow accumulations will generally be on less than 4 inches. Isolated amounts near 6 inches may be possible. Rain and The Pacific Northwest will be wet over the next couple of days as a front approaches the Coast. A strong ridge will be in place across much of the West, resulting in very high snow levels. Mountain snow will likely be minimal, with the bulk of the precipitation falling as rain along the Washington, Oregon and northern California coastal areas.
