Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 254 AM EST Fri Feb 26 2016 Valid 12Z Fri Feb 26 2016 - 12Z Sun Feb 28 2016 ...Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below average from the Lower Great Lakes to the Tennessee Valley... Upper-level energy moving across the eastern portion of the country and favorable wind trajectory off the Great Lakes will aid in producing lake effect snow downwind of the Great Lakes and over parts of the Northern/Central Appalachians through Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, a front approaching the West Coast will move inland to the Northern Plains to parts of the Great Basin by Saturday evening. A plume of moisture will accompany the boundary on Friday producing rain along the West Coast from Washington State to Northern California by Friday evening. As the upper-level energy comes onshore overnight Friday, the low-level flow will come off the ocean as the rain expand farther inland to parts of the Northern Intermountain Region. Additionally, the rain moves out of Northern California by late Saturday morning. In addition, the onshore flow off the Pacific ends on Saturday afternoon, too, as the rain along the Northwest Coast ends. Snow and lower elevation rain will develop over the Northern Intermountain Region into the Northern Rockies on Saturday afternoon and evening.
