Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 358 PM EDT Sun Mar 20 2016 Valid 00Z Mon Mar 21 2016 - 00Z Wed Mar 23 2016 ...Heavy rain possible over parts of the Pacific Northwest and Northern California... ...Heavy snow along the Northeast Coast... Low pressure off the Mid-Atlantic Coast will move northeastward to off Maine by Monday evening. The system will produce snow over the higher elevations of the Central Appalachians and parts of the Northern Mid-Atlantic by Sunday evening that will move to the Northeast Coast by late Sunday night ending overnight early Tuesday morning. The front associated with the storm will produce showers and thunderstorms over Southern Florida through late Sunday night. Rain will also develop over parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley to parts of the Southern Mid-Atlantic Coast and Southeast ending along the Southern Mid-Atlantic Coast by Monday afternoon. Likewise, the rain will end over the Middle Mississippi Valley/Tennessee Valley by early Monday morning. Meanwhile, a front over the Northern Intermountain Region/Great Basin will move eastward to the Central High Plains by Monday evening. The boundary will be reinforced by a second front moving onshore over the West Coast by late Monday morning. In addition, a third front moving southward out of Southern Canada will move to the Great Lakes/Upper Mississippi Valley by Monday evening and link up with the boundary moving out of the Rockies by Tuesday morning. Rain will develop along parts of the West Coast by Sunday evening that will expand inland to parts of the Northern Rockies by Monday morning.
