Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 411 AM EDT Sat Mar 26 2016 Valid 12Z Sat Mar 26 2016 - 12Z Mon Mar 28 2016 ...Heavy rain possible from the Southeast to the Central Gulf Coast... ...Temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees below average over the Central Plains into the Central Rockies... Stationary front over the Southeast will return northward as a warm front over the Mid-Atlantic by Sunday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and near the boundary over the Southeast into the Central Gulf Coast that will expand into the Southern Mid-Atlantic on Sunday. A second front extending from the Upper Great Lakes/Upper Mississippi Valley roughly southwestward to the Southern High Plains then westward into the Southwest will move eastward to the Great Lakes to the Central Gulf Coast and the southern tip of Texas by Sunday evening. Light snow will develop from roughly north of the boundary over the Upper Great Lakes/Upper Mississippi Valley to parts of the Central Rockies/Great Basin on Saturday morning. The snow and lower elevation rain will move out of the the Central Rockies/Southern High Plains overnight Saturday ending by early Sunday morning. Similarly, snow will move out of the Central Plains overnight Saturday becoming limited to parts of the Upper Great Lakes by Sunday evening. In addition, rain will develop along and south of the front from parts of the Central Plains to the Upper Mississippi Valley on Saturday morning moving into parts of the Upper Great Lakes by Saturday evening. The rain will continue to move eastward into parts of the Great Lakes and Western Ohio Valley by Sunday evening. Furthermore, showers and thunderstorms will start to develop along the front over parts of the Southern Plains late Saturday night/early Sunday morning moving into parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley on Sunday afternoon. The showers and thunderstorms will expand into parts of the Ohio Valley and move into the Tennessee Valley/Central Gulf Coast by Sunday evening. A third front will move onshore over the Pacific Northwest Saturday night moving eastward to the Northern High Plain/Rockies into part of the Great Basin by Sunday evening. Rain will start to develop along the coast on Saturday moving inland to parts of the Northern Intermountain Region with snow at the higher elevations by Sunday morning. On Sunday the precipitation will move farther eastward to the Northern Rockies by Sunday evening.
