Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 236 AM EDT Sun Apr 03 2016 Valid 12Z Sun Apr 03 2016 - 12Z Tue Apr 05 2016 ...Strong winds along with areas of snow to continue for portions of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast today... ...Another fast-moving low pressure system to bring rain and snow to the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes today... ...Wet conditions expected to return to the Pacific Northwest by this evening... A fast-moving low pressure system will move off the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast coast this morning, and areas of rain and snow across the Northeast come to an end by late morning. Strong and gusty winds may persist across portions of the Northeast into early evening, however. A second low pressure system, following a similar track to the one moving offshore, will cross the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes today and tonight, bringing another round of rain and snow. This system will once again spread snow into the Northeast by early Monday morning, with rain farther south across much of the Mid-Atlantic. Rain showers will return to the Pacific Northwest by this evening as a cold front approaches the region. The front will move into the Intermountain West by Monday morning, with rain changing to snow across the Cascades as the front moves inland. This system will bring a mix of mountain snow and valley rain to the Intermountain West and central/northern Rockies through the day on Monday, before moving into the northern plains Tuesday night. Snow will be possible in association with this system by early Monday morning across portions of the Upper Midwest, with scattered showers and thunderstorms farther south across the central plains. Temperatures will generally be above average across much of the western and central U.S. today, with afternoon high temperatures expected to be 10 to 20 degrees above average.
