Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 409 AM EDT Sun Apr 24 2016 Valid 12Z Sun Apr 24 2016 - 12Z Tue Apr 26 2016 ...There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Central Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley... ....Heavy rain possible from Upper Mississippi Valley and the Upper Great Lakes... A storm over the Northern/Central Plains will become quasi-stationary through Monday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the associated front from the Northern Plains to the Central Plains and into the Upper Mississippi Valley and parts of the Upper Great Lakes that will slowly move to parts of the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley and into the Mississippi Valley by Monday evening. Rain and highest elevation snow will develop over the Northern/Central Rockies and rain over the Northern High Plains through Monday morning. Overnight Sunday, rain will move into the Northern Plains and continue through Monday evening. A second sytem will move onshore over the West Coast and forming a closed upper-level low over the Great Basin by Monday morning. Rain will develop along the Northwest and Northern California Coast on Sunday morning that will expand inland over the Great Basinand parts of Central California by Sunday evening. The rain will mainly end over the Northwest by Monday evening. On Monday, the rain will move into parts of the Northern Rockies and the Northern High Plains. Snow will also develop over some of the highest elevations of Cascades and the Sierras as well as parts of the Northern Rockies on Sunday into Monday.
