An upper-level low over the Mid-Atlantic will slowly move northeastward to Southern New England by Tuesday evening. Rain will develop over parts of the Mid-Atlantic with embedded thunderstorms over parts of the Central Appalachians by Monday afternoon into evening. The rain with embedded thunderstorms will move into parts of New England on Tuesday morning while the rain ends over the Mid-Atlantic. The rain with embedded thunderstorms will continue over New England through Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, a deep upper-level trough over the western third of the country will be quasi-stationary through Tuesday evening. Rain will develop over parts of the Pacific Northwest into Northern California on Monday. Rain with embedded thunderstorms will expand into parts of the Great Basin to parts of the Northern High Plains by Monday evening. Overnight Monday, the rain will be limited to parts of Southern/Central California northeastward into parts of the Northern Rockies/Northern High Plains. With daytime heating, the rain with embedded thunderstorms will expand over interior Northwest and Northern/Central California eastward to the Northern/Central Rockies on Tuesday. In addition, moisture from the Western Gulf of Mexico will stream northward over Plains into the Upper Mississippi Valley on Monday morning with the moisture axis moving into the Great Lakes on Tuesday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over the Central Plains into the Upper Mississippi Valley on Monday morning that will expand southward into the Southern Plains by Monday evening. By Tuesday morning, the showers and thunderstorms will move eastward into the Upper Great Lakes and extend southwestward to the Southern Plains continuing into Tuesday evening. Additionally, showers and thunderstorms will return to parts of the Northern/Central Plains on Tuesday afternoon into evening.
