Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 343 PM EDT Wed May 25 2016 Valid 00Z Thu May 26 2016 - 00Z Sat May 28 2016 ...Heavy rain and stormy weather for the Plains, and warmer weather returns for the East Coast... Numerous showers and thunderstorms are forecast to continue across the middle of the nation through the end of the week with multiple frontal boundaries in the region. Severe storms are expected to develop across parts of the central and southern plains on Thursday in response to an upper level impulse approaching from the Intermountain West. The thunderstorm complexes that develop may also cause periods of heavy rainfall that could lead to some localized flooding issues. Summer-like temperatures have arrived to much of the East Coast states today and this is expected to continue through Friday as a Bermuda high becomes established over the western Atlantic. With the sustained southerly flow, the humidity is expected to rise with dewpoints rising well into the 60s and even low 70s at times. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are forecast to develop during the afternoons and evenings in response to the daytime heating. Out West, showers and high elevation snow will be possible over the next few days with the weather pattern remaining unsettled with an upper level trough in place. Dry conditions should continue for most of California and the Desert Southwest. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
