A dynamic storm system moving across the Northern Plains will have the potential to produce strong to severe thunderstorms on Friday. In a warm and humid air mass, showers and thunderstorms will break out across the Upper Midwest and move toward the southeast. Thunderstorms activity is expected to last well into the evening, approaching the Upper Great Lakes Saturday morning. A deep upper low will impact the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley over the weekend. The upper low will become nearly stationary over Texas and southerly flow off the Gulf of Mexico will supply a steady stream of tropical moisture over the region. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect the region through the weekend. With much of the region already saturated from previous heavy rainfall, flash flooding will be a major concern. Precipitation and cloud cover will keep temperatures cooler than normal over the Southern Plains. Tropical Depression Bonnie will briefly strengthen to a Tropical Storm as it moves out to sea. Little additional rainfall is expected. See the National Hurricane Center webpage for more information. Krekeler Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
