The weather pattern across the continental U.S. will feature an upper level ridge over the western U.S. and a developing trough east of the Mississippi River. An occluded surface low over Quebec will bring a pair of cold fronts across the central and eastern states for the beginning of the work week. A quality air mass by June standards is expected across the northern tier of the nation for Monday and Tuesday behind the secondary front with low dewpoints and comfortable afternoon temperatures. Tropical moisture will continue to pump into the Southeast U.S. ahead of the front as Tropical Storm Colin tracks northeastward across Florida and then parallels the southeast coast before rapidly heading out to sea. Several inches of rainfall are a good possibility from central Florida to the South Carolina coast. Localized flooding will continue to be problematic for some areas. Very hot temperatures will be the main weather story out West through Tuesday with a strong upper level ridge in place. Although the heat wave has recently peaked, temperatures will continue to be above 100 degrees for the lower deserts of southern California, Arizona, and Nevada during the day. Relief is coming to the Pacific Northwest with cooler weather arriving behind a Pacific cold front. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
