Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 356 AM EDT Tue Jun 7 2016 Valid 12Z Tue Jun 7 2016 - 12Z Thu Jun 9 2016 ...Improving weather for the East Coast by mid-week... ...Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the western U.S... Heavy rain associated with Tropical Storm Colin will graze the Southeast U.S. coastline on Tuesday before the storm heads out to sea Tuesday night. Some coastal locations from Florida to eastern North Carolina may get a few inches of rainfall before the event is over, but the majority of the highest winds will remain to the south and east of the storm track. Therefore, wind impacts from this system over land should be inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. A cold front currently crossing the Ohio Valley is expected to reach the East Coast by Tuesday night. Behind the front, a pristine air mass will settle in across the northeastern quadrant of the nation with refreshingly cool morning temperatures and pleasant afternoons with low humidity. This weather pattern is forecast to persist through the middle of the week with little in the way of rain or thunderstorm activity. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to form across the Intermountain West and the Rocky Mountains through Wednesday, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. Hot weather is expected over the lower elevations of the Desert Southwest with highs over 100 degrees. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
