Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 355 AM EDT Wed Jun 8 2016 Valid 12Z Wed Jun 8 2016 - 12Z Fri Jun 10 2016 ...Much better weather for the eastern U.S. through Thursday... ...Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the western U.S... The cold front that cleared the East Coast Tuesday night is bringing in a pristine air mass from Canada with pleasantly cool temperatures and low humidity. Expect highs to be in the 60s and 70s from the Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast U.S. for Wednesday and Thursday, and lows in the 40s and 50s. There may be a few scattered showers over the Northeast on Wednesday with the passage of an upper level trough, but otherwise partly cloudy skies can be expected. The tropical moisture associated with former Tropical Storm Colin is now well offshore. However, the southern portion of the cold front is forecast to stall over the Florida peninsula and cause periods of rainfall through the middle of the week for that area. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to form across the Intermountain West and the Rocky Mountains through Thursday, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. Hot weather is expected over the lower elevations of the Desert Southwest with highs over 100 degrees likely. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
