Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 328 AM EDT Thu Jun 9 2016 Valid 12Z Thu Jun 9 2016 - 12Z Sat Jun 11 2016 ...Wonderful weather conditions over the eastern U.S. through Friday... ...Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the western U.S... The pristine airmass currently over the eastern U.S. is expected to continue through Thursday with pleasantly cool and crisp overnight lows, and mild afternoon highs and low humidity with partly cloudy skies. Expect highs to be in the 70s to low 80s from the Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic region, and 60s for New England. Friday will also be another nice day before the heat and humidity makes a return by Saturday. There may be a few scattered showers over parts of New England with an upper level trough over eastern Canada. Hot and dry weather is forecast to continue for the southern plains and the Deep South, with highs in the 90s and plenty of sunshine. Moisture will be increasing over this region by the end of the week as the surface high moves farther to the east. Over the Florida peninsula, numerous showers and storms are forecast to persist with a stalled frontal boundary draped across the state. Some upper level shortwave energy trapped underneath an upper-level ridge combined with daytime heating will be enough to produce scattered showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Rockies and western High Plains on Thursday. A slow moving front over the Northern Rockies and the Intermountain West will move eastward towards the Northern Plains by Friday. Onshore flow behind the cold front may produce some showers over parts of the Pacific Northwest through the end of the week. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
