Upper-level energy moving across the Lower Great Lakes into Northern New England will produce rain over the region through late tonight. Heavy rain will be possible over this region which will increase the risk for flash flooding. A quasi-stationary front extending from the Mid-Atlantic roughly westward to the Central High Plains will have waves of low pressure travel along the boundary through the end of the week. Showers and thunderstorms will initiate near the boundary from the northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley to the Ohio Valley/Mid-Atlantic through Thursday. Convection will taper off over the Northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley while continuing over the Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic through Thursday evening. On Thursday afternoon into evening, showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Central Plains eastward to the Western Ohio Valley. A Pacific cold front will move onshore the Pacific Northwest by Thursday afternoon and will continue to push eastward into the Intermountain West region Friday and Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over portions of the central/southern Rockies and central/southern High Plains during the afternoon and evening hours on Wednesday and Thursday. A few showers and thunderstorms are expected to pop up over portions of the western Gulf Coast and southern Florida with the onshore flow and daytime heating over the area.
