A cold front will move across the Great Lakes, Ohio and Tennessee Valleys into the East Coast by Monday, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms to those regions. Showers and thunderstorms will increase during the afternoon and evening hours especially across the Ohio, Tennessee Valleys and Southeast on Monday, and across the Southeast and Gulf Coast on Tuesday. On and off showers and thundershowers will begin to affect the Northeast and Middle Atlantic states from west to east on Monday as the cold front moves across the region. Showers will persist especially across the Northeast on Tuesday into Wednesday. Warm and humid conditions will precede the passage of the front as it slowly crosses the East Coast. Behind the front, a push of cooler, drier air will make its way south and eastward across the Plains and Midwest on Monday and then slowly make it farther south and east on Tuesday reaching the Ohio Valley and western portions of the Northeast with maximum temperatures in the 70s. Cooler air will move slowly eastward across the western half of the Northeast on Wednesday as the front moves slowly eastward while more comfortable conditions move into the Tennessee Valley and Appalachians into the Middle Atlantic states. Hot and dry conditions will persist across the Southwest and Intermountain West with diurnal thundershowers occurring across portions of the Rockies, especially on Tuesday and Wednesday.
