Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 344 PM EDT Thu Jul 7 2016 Valid 00Z Fri Jul 8 2016 - 00Z Sun Jul 10 2016 ...Cool weather across the Northwest and hot and humid conditions over much of the central and eastern U.S... Hazy, hot, and humid conditions are expected to continue across much of the southern tier of the nation and extending to the East Coast through the end of the week. Widespread 90s for highs are forecast and lows in the 70s, and many areas have heat advisories in effect. It will also be humid with dewpoints well into the 70s, especially near the coast. Some triple digit temperatures are possible across parts of Texas, as well as the lower elevations of the Desert Southwest. Showers and thunderstorms can be expected from the Upper Midwest to the Ohio Valley, and also across the Appalachians and the Northeast U.S. by Friday night as a low pressure system tracks eastward. Severe thunderstorms will also be possible per the latest Storm Prediction Center outlooks. Areas of heavy rain with the thunderstorm activity may lead to localized flash flooding. By the weekend, an upper-level low will advance eastward toward the Pacific Northwest coast and move inland across the northern Rockies by Sunday. This will bring a cold front through much of this region and result in temperatures that are well below normal for this time of year. Some of the higher elevations from Washington state to Montana could even get snow! Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
