Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 343 AM EDT Tue Jul 12 2016 Valid 12Z Tue Jul 12 2016 - 12Z Thu Jul 14 2016 ...Slight risk of severe thunderstorms from Midwest to Great Lakes region... Showers and thunderstorms will continue to impact portions of the Midwest, Upper Midwest and the Great Lakes region over the next couple is days. A slow moving front extending from the Upper Midwest to the southern High Plains will sluggishly advance eastward to the Upper Great Lakes to the Central High Plains by Wednesday. Some of the storms across the Midwest and Upper Midwest over the next couple of days will have the potential to become severe - the Storm Prediction Center has identified these area as having a slight risk. Please refer to SPC's website for additional information on severe weather. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible from the Gulf Coast to the Mid-Atlantic and portions of the Ohio valley as an upper-level low tracks into the Ohio valley, bringing with it a steady stream of tropical moisture. Onshore flow will produce rain over portions of the Pacific Northwest today and will expand eastward in the Intermountain West by this afternoon. Rain is expected to slowly diminish from west to east by Wednesday morning as the surface front weakens and high pressure begins to build into the region.
