Upper-level energy over the Northern Rockies will move eastward to the Upper Great Lakes by Sunday evening. The energy will trigger showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Northern High Plains that will expand into the Northern Plains by Saturday evening. By Sunday morning, the showers and thunderstorms will move into the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley and into parts of the Upper Great Lakes by Sunday evening. In addition, an upper-level impulse over the Central Plains will produce showers and thunderstorms through late Saturday night. Meanwhile, tropical moisture from the Lower Mississippi Valley to the Southern Mid-Atlantic Coast and the Southeast, along with daytime heating will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over the region with the greatest areal coverage during the afternoon into late evening hours on Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, weak monsoonal moisture and daytime heating will produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southwest into the Central/Southern Rockies also on Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evening.
