Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 357 PM EDT Fri Jul 29 2016 Valid 00Z Sat Jul 30 2016 - 00Z Mon Aug 01 2016 ...Heavy rain and strong storms likely from the lower Mississippi valley to the Mid-Atlantic through Saturday... ...Severe thunderstorms possible east of Central Rockies tonight... A waffling frontal boundary will stretch from the Mid-Atlantic across to the Central Rockies through the weekend, resulting in numerous showers and thunderstorms from the Midwest/Gulf states to the Eastern seaboard. These storms will have plenty of high humidity to work with south of the front, and a few severe storms are likely to develop. A wide swath along the frontal boundary will have an increased risk for heavy rainfall, which may lead to situations of flash flooding. Slightly cooler and less moist air will be in place this weekend across the northern tier states. Across the western U.S., scattered showers and storms are expected to develop during the afternoons and evenings, with the best concentration across the elevated regions of Arizona and New Mexico with moisture from the monsoon. A weak cold front is forecast to bring cooler conditions for the Pacific Northwest going into the weekend. Campbell Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
