Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 306 AM EDT Sun Jul 31 2016 Valid 12Z Sun Jul 31 2016 - 12Z Tue Aug 2 2016 ...Numerous showers and thunderstorms likely from the Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic through Monday... ...Hot weather from the Desert Southwest to central and southern Plains... Multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorm activity are likely over the next few days from the Midwest to the East Coast with a slow moving frontal boundary in place. A weak surface low exiting the Mid-Atlantic on Monday will likely have a more concentrated area of heavier rainfall over much of upstate New York and southern New England through Sunday night, with amounts in excess of two inches possible. Another area of noteworthy rainfall will be across the Carolinas ahead of a slow moving cold front. North of the boundary, cooler temperatures and lower humidity are expected through early next week for the Great Lakes region. The Desert Southwest and Texas will continue to have hot temperatures under the persistent upper-level ridge. Monsoonal flow streaming into the Four-Corners region will promote the generation of convection across New Mexico and Arizona. Locally heavy rainfall over the higher terrain may be enough to cause some flooding issues. Elsewhere, a developing cold front will bring cooler conditions for the Pacific Northwest to begin the work week. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
