Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 348 PM EDT Wed Aug 17 2016 Valid 00Z Thu Aug 18 2016 - 00Z Sat Aug 20 2016 ...Hot and humid weather continues across the southern and eastern states through the end of the week... ...Cold front brings refreshing change from the northern Rockies to the Upper Midwest... The East Coast of the U.S. remains under the influence of the Bermuda High and thus hot and humid weather is expected to continue through the remainder of the week. Temporary relief may be in the offering via scattered showers and storms that develop, especially across the Mid-Atlantic and towards New England through Wednesday night with a weak frontal boundary in the area. The remnants of a decaying frontal boundary across the Mississippi River valley will also keep patchy areas of precipitation around from the central Gulf Coast to the Ohio Valley. By the end of the week, a refreshing change in the weather will come to residents of the north-central U.S. behind a rather well-defined cold front with a Canadian surface high building in behind it. This quality airmass will feature highs in the 60s and 70s, and crisp morning lows in the 40s and 50s. The same can't be said for much of the Pacific Northwest, where heat advisories and excessive heat watches are currently in effect.
