Showers and thunderstorms are developing ahead of a eastward moving cold front over portions of the central Plains and Midwest today. The areal coverage will steadily increase over over the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and Middle Mississippi Valley as front continues to advance eastward through the central U.S. Severe thunderstorms along with heavy rain are possible. Please refer to products issued by the Storm Prediction Center for further details on the severe weather threat. The trailing end of this frontal boundary will become nearly stationary across the central Rockies today and will linger through Thursday. This boundary, combined with monsoonal moisture streaming into the southwestern U.S., will focus areas of showers and thunderstorms across the Four Corners region and the central Rockies through Thursday. A lingering boundary over the Southeast and the Deep South will serve as a focus for showers and thunderstorms through Wednesday morning- high pressure will expand southward and diminish the lingering front. Temperature across the Pacific Northwest will steady warm through the week as a mid-level ridge attempts to partially build back into the region. Temperatures are expected to rise about 10 to 15 degrees above average by Wednesday and Thursday. Campbell Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
