Showers and thunderstorms will likely develop across the the central Plains, Midwest and Upper Midwest as a surge of warm and humid air lifts through the central U.S. A few severe thunderstorms may develop across eastern North Dakota and northern Minnesota. Isolated areas of heavy rainfall may be possible; which could lead to localized flooding issues. Cooler air will spread into the northern Plains and Upper Midwest as a cold front sinks southward from Canada. This system will be pushing into the lower Great Lakes and Ohio valley by Wednesday morning. A secondary cold front will advancing through Ontario and Minnesota will reinforce the cooler airmass for northern tier. Another low pressure system will track through the Northeast over the next few days, keeping showers and a few thunderstorms possible through Monday afternoon. Surface high pressure will build into the area once the front pushes offshore Monday night. Portions of the Mid-Atlantic region will have a few showers and thunderstorms along a weakening thermal boundary. The Coastal Carolinas will continue to have showers and thunderstorms as the tropical depression Eight approaches the East Coast. Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected near the western Gulf Coast and southern/eastern Florida Coast as a disturbance drifts from the southern Bahamas into the Gulf of Mexico. Accumulations upwards of 3 to 5 inches are likely for these locations. Late-summer heat and humidity will persist across much of the southern tier through Monday. Afternoon temperatures ranging from the upper 80s to mid 90s, with lows in the in the 70s will be common. A vast portion of the West will remain warm and dry. Monsoonal moisture streaming into the Southwest will help trigger diurnal showers and thunderstorms for New Mexico, portions of the southern Rockies and the central Plains.
