Tropical Storm Hermine is currently expected to make landfall as a minimal hurricane across northern Florida on Wednesday evening and night. Check the latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center for the most up to date storm track and intensity. As this storm moves northeastward from northeast Gulf of Mexico near the Southeast US coastline, heavy rain is expected from central and northern Florida along with gusty winds and possible storm surge flooding as well. Flooding is possible from northern Florida along the Southeast coast as several inches of rain are expected to fall from this system. A cold front extending from the Northeast across the Mid Mississippi Valley will move south and eastward reaching the upper reaches of the Southeast by Thursday evening. Showers and thundershowers will accompany the passage of this front. Canadian high pressure will build southward providing some cooling breezes across much of the Midwest, Ohio Valley, Appalachians and Northeast from Thursday through the early part of the weekend. However, depending on the track of Hermine and how it interacts with the frontal system will also determine how far north and west the rain falls from the storm as it continues to move north from the tropics.. Afternoon showers and thundershowers will occur over parts of the Southwest/Eastern Great Basin and the Central/Southern Rockies during the afternoon into late evening hours on Thursday and Friday. Meanwhile...another frontal system will cross the northwestern states with showers across the Pacific Northwest and even some high elevation snow in the Cascades as much cooler air spreads eastward from the Northwest across Idaho and Montana by the beginning of the weekend.
