Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 340 AM EDT Sat Sep 10 2016 Valid 12Z Sat Sep 10 2016 - 12Z Mon Sep 12 2016 ...There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Ohio Valley into the Lower Great Lakes... A front extending from the Great Lakes southward to the Lower Mississippi Valley then southwestward into the Southern High Plains will move eastward to off the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Coast to the Southeast to parts of the Western Gulf Coast by Sunday. Moisture will pool along the boundary aiding in the development of showers and thunderstorms from parts of the Upper Great Lakes/Upper Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley/Middle Mississippi Valley to parts of the Southern Plains that will move eastward to the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic by Saturday night moving off the Northeast Coast by Sunday evening. In addition, the showers and thunderstorms will move into the Southern Mid-Atlantic/Southeast to parts of the Western Gulf Coast on Sunday into Sunday evening. Also, showers and thunderstorms will develop along the warm front from parts of the Ohio Valley to Southern New England on Saturday morning that will lift northward into the Northeast by Saturday evening. Meanwhile, a front move onshore over the Northwest and move southward out of Western Canada by Saturday evening will move inland to the Northern Plains to parts of the Northern Rockies and Great Basin by Sunday evening. The system will be lacking in moisture so showers and thunderstorms will start to develop over parts of the Northern Rockies/Northern High Plains on Sunday morning into Sunday evening. Additionally, monsoonal moisture and daytime heating will produce showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon into the late evening hours mainly on Sunday over parts of the Southwest/Eastern Great Basin and the Southern/Central Rockies.
