Tropical Storm Julia is forecast to weaken this weekend offshore of the Southeast Coast. See the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center for the most current track and intensity of Julia. A few showers and thunderstorms may develop along the Southeast Coast as Julia weakens. A low pressure system tracking eastward through the central United States will generate scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms this weekend, spanning from the southern Plains to the Northeast. Ample moisture streaming northward from the Gulf of Mexico will continue to aid in developing showers and thunderstorms over the Tennessee/Ohio valleys, the Appalachians/Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast Sunday and Monday as the cold front passes through the eastern third of the country. Thunderstorms near the Texas Caprock and Panhandle could reach severe limits on Saturday per Storm Prediction Center outlooks. Heavy rainfall across the Midwest this afternoon/tonight and the Northeast on Sunday could lead to flooding. A cold front passing through the Pacific Northwest today will cross the Northern Rockies and move out across the Northern High Plains by Saturday evening. Western Washington and Oregon will see rain, possibly heavy at times, in association with this feature. The rain will move inland to the Northern Rockies by Saturday evening and portions of the surrounding Plains on Sunday.
