A series of strong storm systems will continue to affect the West Coast through Monday, with the potential for heavy rain and high winds across the Pacific Northwest and northern California. A frontal system will move inland in the northwestern U.S. today bringing widespread rain. As this system moves into the interior West on Sunday, snow is expected at the higher elevations of the northern Rockies. The onslaught of stormy conditions will continue into Monday as onshore flow persists and another upper-level disturbance moves into the region. The central U.S. will see above average temperatures persisting as high pressure aloft builds overhead. Temperatures will generally be 5 to 15 degrees above average across most of the central U.S. today and 10 to 20 degrees above average Sunday and Monday. A cold front will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to portions of the Great Lakes today, with showers reaching portions of the northeastern U.S. on Monday. Also by Sunday night into Monday, another round of showers and thunderstorms will move into the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes as another in the rapid series of storm systems crosses the region. Temperatures are forecast to be slightly below average along the East Coast today, but a warming trend is expected through Sunday and Monday.
