Rain will continue today across the Pacific Northwest as well as portions of central and northern California. A few thunderstorms are possible as well, especially for coastal areas. From northern California northward, heavy rainfall is possible. Onshore flow will persist along the West Coast into Monday and Tuesday, although precipitation should gradually become less widespread through the next couple days. Farther inland, a cold front moving across the Rockies today will lower snow levels, and heavy snow is possible at the highest elevations of Idaho and Wyoming into Monday morning. Scattered rain and snow showers will persist across the northwestern U.S. and northern Rockies into Tuesday. Farther east, a frontal boundary will bring areas of showers and thunderstorms from the Upper Midwest to portions of the Northeast today. On Monday, another wave of low pressure developing along the front will bring another round of showers and thunderstorms to the Upper Midwest. Meanwhile, a building ridge of high pressure will result in above average temperatures across much of the central and eastern U.S. through the next couple days. High temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees above average over much of the central U.S. today, and these anomalously warm temperatures will spread east into the Ohio valley, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast on Monday and Tuesday.
