Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 333 PM EDT Wed Nov 02 2016 Valid 00Z Thu Nov 03 2016 - 00Z Sat Nov 05 2016 ...Above average temperatures expected to continue on Thursday for much of the central and eastern U.S... ...Heavy rain possible Thursday across portions of the southern High Plains... ...Cooler temperatures on the way for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic by Friday... High pressure aloft will keep temperatures above average for most of the central and eastern U.S. on Thursday. The most anomalous temperatures are expected to be across the northern plains, where high temperatures on Thursday are expected to be 15 to 25 degrees above average. Temperatures will also be 10 to 20 degrees above average across much of the eastern U.S. The warm conditions will persist across the northern plains into Friday. A cold front will bring rain and a few thunderstorms to areas from the southern plains to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Thursday. Behind this front, a cooler air mass will move into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic for Friday. A few snow showers are possible Friday morning for portions of northern New England, especially at the higher elevations. Farther south, the same frontal boundary crossing the Northeast will become stationary from the southern plains into the southern Rockies. This will keep showers and thunderstorms a possibility across these areas Thursday and Friday. Heavy rain is possible, especially across the southern High Plains, where multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are possible. Across the Pacific Northwest, rain will continue into this evening before gradually tapering off. Dry conditions will prevail across most of the Northwest on Thursday and most of Friday, before another cold front approaches by late in the day Friday.
