Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 235 PM EDT Fri Nov 04 2016 Valid 00Z Sat Nov 05 2016 - 00Z Mon Nov 07 2016 ...Storminess over the Pacific Northwest and South Central US... ...Tranquil weather over much of the rest of the nation... ...Temperatures will be above average for much of the country with the largest departures over the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest... A frontal system will approach the Pacific Northwest coast on Saturday with heavy rainfall possible along the immediate coast from northern California into western Oregon. The front will move inland with some scattered rain showers and mountain snow into Idaho and western Montana. An upper low over the Southwest will continue to transport significant moisture northward with locally heavy rain possible across eastern New Mexico into Texas and Oklahoma. Rainfall amounts over the next couple days could be in the range of 1 to 2 inches. Otherwise, the rest of the nation looks to be mostly dry and temperatures could be 10 to over 20 degrees above normal especially from the Northern Plains to the Upper Midwest. The only regions where temperatures will likely be at or below normal include the Southwest and South Central States where clouds and rainfall will keep temperatures down. The other area will be in the Northeast and along the immediate East Coast where high pressure will dominate and some chilly air will be located especially over New England...with the chance for a few rain and snow showers as a shot of colder air moves into the region on Sunday.
