A cold front extending from the Great Lakes to Texas Tuesday night is forecast to move eastward towards the East Coast on Wednesday. Periods of rain are likely from North Carolina to New England in association with this front, but it is not expected to be heavy. Slightly cooler weather is expected behind the cold front with readings closer to average for this time of year. Elsewhere across the continental U.S., a rather benign weather pattern will be commonplace across most areas from the Intermountain West to the Ohio Valley. Rain is likely across parts of western Washington and Oregon, and also southern Texas and the Gulf Coast. Above normal temperatures and dry conditions should continue through Thursday for much of the country, except for cooler temperatures which are expected to arrive for the northern tier states by Thursday behind another cold front.
