Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 250 PM EST Sun Nov 13 2016 Valid 00Z Mon Nov 14 2016 - 00Z Wed Nov 16 2016 ...Low pressure expected to bring rain to areas along the East Coast... ...Rain expected to develop across the Pacific Northwest today... ...Well above average temperatures expected to continue for the northern plains and Upper Midwest... A Pacific front approaching the Northwest coast has brought rain this afternoon to western Washington and Oregon. Precipitation will spread eastward across the Intermountain West as the front moves moves inland on Monday and persist into midweek. Snow will be possible in the higher elevations of the northern Cascades and the Northern Rockies. Shortwave energy will help the front cross the Canadian Rockies on Monday and spill into the northern High Plains by Tuesday and the Upper Midwest on Wednesday. A cold front will slowly spread south and east through the central U.S. over the next few days. Light precipitation will be possible for portions of the lower Mississippi valley and the Upper Mississippi valley/western Great Lakes region. Above average temperatures are expected to continue across much of the central U.S. through the next couple days. Afternoon high temperatures are forecast to be 15 to 25 degrees above average from the northern and portions of the central plains to the Upper Midwest on Monday. An area of low pressure along a stationary boundary off the southeast U.S. coast is forecast to move northeast along the East coast. Rain showers and thunderstorms currently near the coastal areas of the Carolinas is forecast to spread north into portions of the Mid-Atlantic region by Monday and into the Northeast Monday night into Tuesday.
