Deep low pressure near Northern New England will slowly fill through Tuesday. Lake effect/lake enhanced snow will develop over the Lower Great Lakes into parts of the Northern/Central Appalachians and New England that will begin to wind down on Tuesday. Rain will also develop over parts of Eastern Maine through Monday evening. Overnight Monday, the rain over Eastern Maine with change over to snow with pockets of rain mixed in near the coast on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a front extending from the Northern Intermountain Region to Southern California will move eastward to the Central/Southern Plains by Tuesday. The system will produce rain from parts the Northern Intermountain Region to Central/Southern California with snow over the higher elevations of the Sierras and Northern Intermountain Region, that will end over the area by Tuesday morning. In addition, snow will develop over the higher elevations of the Great basin overnight Sunday. Rain will also develop over the Southwest into the Central Rockies, with snow over the higher elevations of the Central Rockies by Sunday evening. The area of rain and higher elevations snow will expand into the Southern Rockies by Monday morning, ending by Tuesday morning. Additionally, the rain and higher elevations snow will continue over parts of the Northern/Central Rockie and parts of the Great Basin through Tuesday morning. By Monday evening, rain will begin to develop over parts of the Northern/Central Plains and Southern High Plains. By Tuesday morning, the rain will extend from parts of the Northern Plains to the Southern Plains/Middle Mississippi Valley. Furthermore, snow with areas of rain/freezing rain will develop over parts of the Northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley into parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley by Tuesday morning. In the meantime, onshore flow off the Pacific will produce rain over the Northern California and the Pacific Northwest Coast through Monday evening. An approaching front over the Eastern Pacific will bring a return of rain to parts of the Pacific Northwest Coast by Tuesday morning.
