An active weather pattern will continue for the West Coast over the next couple of days as a series of Pacific storm systems move inland. Heavy rain is likely for the coastal areas with several inches possible over western Oregon and Washington. Heavy mountain snow is expected from the mountains of northern California northward to the Cascades and Olympics ranges. Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories are in effect for these areas. Lighter snowfall amounts are likely for the central and northern Rockies as the moisture moves inland. The weather pattern will not be quite as active for the central and eastern U.S. with a couple of week frontal boundaries passing through. These will have mainly light precipitation but nothing major is currently anticipated. Seasonal temperatures can be expected across much of the nation through the end of the week with no major surges of Arctic air expected.
