Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 229 PM EST Thu Nov 24 2016 Valid 00Z Fri Nov 25 2016 - 00Z Sun Nov 27 2016 ...Heavy rain and mountain snow for the West Coast... ...Chilly, unsettled weather for the Great Lakes and some significant snow possible across northern Maine... ...Little rain and mostly fair skies continue across the Southeast... A series of storm systems will affect the West Coast with heavy rain and heavy mountain snow. Rainfall is expected to be greatest across northern California into southwestern Oregon where 4 to 8 inches of rain is expected over the next several days. Heaviest snow is expected along the Washington and Oregon Cascades, the Olympic Mountains and across the Klamath range in southern Oregon and northern California. Snow will also affect portions of the high peaks of the Sierras, Blue Mountains, Tetons, Wasatch and Colorado Rockies. A couple of weather weather disturbances will march across the Midwest and Northeast with some scattered rain showers and a little bit of lake effect snow. Some heavier rain and snow is likely to develop across northern New England into Maine, where some of the snow could be locally heavy, especially this weekend. Cool to chilly conditions will continue across the Midwest and Northeast through the weekend. Some sun and clouds and little rain are expected across the Southeast where drought conditions will persist. Warmer temperatures are expected to return to the Rockies and the Plains before some high elevation snow returns to portions of the Central Rockies by early Sunday. After a beautiful Friday into Saturday, rain is expected to fall across central to southern California by later Saturday into Sunday with mountain snow falling as far south as southern California.
