Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 235 AM EST Fri Nov 25 2016 Valid 12Z Fri Nov 25 2016 - 12Z Sun Nov 27 2016 ...Heavy rain and mountain snow for the West Coast... ...Chilly, unsettled weather for the Great Lakes and some significant snow possible across northern Maine... ...Little rain and mostly fair skies continue across the Southeast... A series of storm systems will produce heavy rain and heavy mountain snow across portions of the West. The greatest rainfall amounts are forecast from northern California into southwestern Oregon, where 4 to 8 inches is expected over the next several days. The heaviest snow will likely be along the Washington and Oregon Cascades, the Olympic Mountains and across the Klamath range in southern Oregon and northern California. Snow will also affect portions of the high peaks of the Sierras, Blue Mountains, Tetons, Wasatch and Colorado Rockies. Winter Storm warnings/advisories are in effect across northern Washington to northwest Montana and from western Washington to northern California. A couple of disturbances moving through the central U.S. will spread scattered showers from the Midwest to the Upper Midwest and lake effect snow for the Great Lakes area and the Northeast. The higher accumulations are forecast for northern New England this coming weekend. Chilly temperatures will persist over these regions through the weekend. Light rain will be possible over the next couple of days for the Southeast as a cold front pushes through the region. Rain is expected to fall across central to southern California by late Saturday into Sunday with mountain snow falling as far south as southern California as a cold front advances through the Great Basin and Desert Southwest.
