Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 256 PM EST Fri Dec 16 2016 Valid 00Z Sat Dec 17 2016 - 00Z Mon Dec 19 2016 ...Heavy rain possible for parts of the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys... ...Heavy snow possible over parts of the Upper Great Lakes and Lower Great Lakes... ...Rain/freezing rain possible over parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley into the Mid-Atlantic/New England... ...Temperatures will be 20 to 40 degrees below average from the Northern Intermountain Region eastward to the Northern/Central Plains... A strong storm over Central Rockies/Plains will move northeastward to Northern New England by Sunday morning. The system will produce snow from parts of Northern California to the Great Lakes that will expand into parts of the Southwest/Southern Rockies and into New England by Saturday morning. The snow will end over Northern California/Northern Intermountain Region/Northern Rockies overnight Friday. By Saturday evening the snow will end over the Southern Rockies/Southwest and Northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley. In addition, the snow will move into the Southern Plains and retreat out of the Lower Great Lakes on Saturday. By Sunday morning, the snow will return to the Lower Great Lakes and extend from the Upper Great Lakes/Ohio Valley to into parts of the Tennessee Valley and Eastern Middle Mississippi Valley.
