A strong storm over Central Rockies/Plains will move northeastward to Northern New England by Sunday morning. The system will produce snow from parts of Northern California to the Great Lakes that will expand into parts of the Southwest/Southern Rockies and into New England by Saturday morning. The snow will end over Northern California/Northern Intermountain Region/Northern Rockies overnight Friday. By Saturday evening the snow will end over the Southern Rockies/Southwest and Northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley. In addition, the snow will move into the Southern Plains and retreat out of the Lower Great Lakes on Saturday. By Sunday morning, the snow will return to the Lower Great Lakes and extend from the Upper Great Lakes/Ohio Valley to into parts of the Tennessee Valley and Eastern Middle Mississippi Valley. The snow will also retreat out of Northern New England overnight Saturday. Additionally, rain will develop over Central/Southern California into parts of the Southwest and Southern Rockies that will end over California by Saturday morning. The rain will also end, west to east over the Southwest and Southern Rockies by Saturday afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley Friday evening that will expand into the Southern Ohio and Tennessee Valleys by Saturday morning. The showers and thunderstorms will end over Lower Mississippi Valley/Central Gulf Coast overnight Saturday. Furthermore, rain will begin to develop over parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley into parts of the Ohio Valley overnight Friday. By Saturday morning, rain will expand into the Central Appalachians/Mid-Atlantic and the Carolina Coast. By Saturday evening, the rain will move into the Lower Great Lakes and into Northern New England overnight Saturday. In between the rain and snow, areas of rain/freezing rain will develop over parts of the Middle Mississippi/Ohio Valleys and parts of the Mid-Atlantic by Saturday morning. By Saturday evening, the areas of rain/freezing rain will move into Southern New England and into Northern New England by Sunday morning. Sleet and rain/freezing rain will develop over parts of Ohio/Tennessee Valleys and into parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley overnight Saturday. Elsewhere, onshore flow will aid in producing coastal rain and higher elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning.
